I have learnt that using a house style will help the reader to more easily recognise the magazine. I have also learnt that by using specific colours that suit your genre and not overloading you can create a more welcoming and less over the top cover.
Another tip i have learnt is that not overloading the front cover with many photos makes it look more professional and as my magazine is based on glossy magazines i believe this helps create the effect. Also i have learnt that by changing the sizes of particular words in my side articles, more attention can be drawn as they stand out more.
Finally, i have learnt that by placing specific colours on top of eachother you can create different and more effective effects, for example the college magazine writing is hard to read and looks very busy and confusing. Whereas the music magazine looks a lot more inviting as it is not intimidating.
